Sales Payments
The standard sales cycle in Microsoft Dynamics NAV generally begins with the creation of a sales order. Following order entry, the items on the sales order are shipped, and an invoice is then sent to the customer. Based on the value of the invoice, the customer sends a payment to the company. The final step is completed when the payment is entered into a cash receipt journal or deposit form, applied to the relevant customer ledger entries, and then posted.
In some scenarios, a sales payment is recorded earlier in the sales process. At a walk in environment such as a terminal market, a customer will typically pay for goods before physically receiving them. It may be that a customer payment is required before additional action can be taken against a sales transaction. For example, perhaps the entry of a payment results in the printing of a pick ticket, which warehouse personnel can then use to fill the sales order.
Companies that operate in this type of a sales environment can use Food Manufacturing & Distribution's sales payment functionality to record and post customer payments for open sales activities prior to shipment. Payments can be entered according to a number of different methods, such as cash, check, and credit card. When these payments are posted, the program automatically applies them to the specified sales orders.
