How to: Set Up a Location for Delivery Trips
The way in which a location is set up has an effect on the actions that must be taken to complete the delivery trip management process.
When the user opens the Delivery Trip Management window to assign orders to delivery trips, a location filter must be entered. In addition to filtering the available outbound documents based on this entry, the program also uses the location's delivery trip setup to determine the process through which delivery trips are completed.
Unlike other location settings that become permanent once activity is recorded for the location, you can change a location's delivery trip settings after ledger entries have been made, if necessary.
To use the delivery trip functionality, you must activate the functionality on the location card.
To activate delivery trips
- In the Search box, enter Locations, and then choose the related link.
- Select the location where you want to enable delivery trips. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, choose Edit.
- On the Delivery Trips FastTab, select the Use Delivery Trips (Sales), Use Delivery Trips (Purchase), or Use Delivery Trips (Transfer) fields to enable delivery trips for oubound sales orders, outbound purchase return orders, and oubound transfer orders.
If you want to use delivery trip picking with your delivery trips, you must indicate this preference.
To use delivery trip picking
- In the Search box, enter Locations, and then choose the related link.
- Select the location where you want to enable delivery trip pickings. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, choose Edit.
- On the Delivery Trips FastTab, fill in the Delivery Trip Picking field with the method by which you want to record delivery trip picks.
- If you want the program to automatically generate a pick for delivery trip shorts, select the Maintain Pick for Shorts field.
If the location is designated as an automated data capture picking location, you can enable additional truck loading features.
To enable truck loading
- In the Search box, enter Locations, and then choose the related link.
- Select the location where you want to enable truck loading. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, choose Edit.
- On the Delivery Trips FastTab, select the Use ADC for Truck Loading field.
