Pallet/Container Tracking
The goods in a company's inventory are often stored on or in some type of container. This lets a company facilitate movements of larger item quantities. For example, a manufacturing company that produces individual cases of a finished good may stack several cases onto a pallet to expedite the movement of items from the production area to warehouse storage.
By defining an inventory item as a "container" in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you can assign other inventory items to the container item. Certain characteristics of the items stored on or in a container are captured when the container record is created. When you assign a container to a document such as a sales or transfer order, information about the items assigned to that container is automatically copied to the document lines.
