How to: Suggest Bin Movements
The program has a special feature that suggests bin movements for different types of activities in the bin reclassification journal. Put-away movements are suggested based on the contents of a particular bin or bin type. Pick movements are suggested by looking at pending shipments and production orders.
Although the movements that are suggested in the bin reclassification journal are referred to as "put-aways" and "picks," these terms are used simply to describe the types of movements that are suggested. You can not create separate put-away and pick documents from this window.
To suggest bin movements
- In the Search box, enter Bin Reclass. Journal, and then choose the related link.
- On the Actions tab, in the Functions group, choose the type of bin movement you want to suggest. The relevant request form opens.
- On the Item FastTab, you can set filters to select items by number and/or item category.
If you are suggesting pick movements for shipments, you can also use the Warehouse Request FastTab to set filters to select source documents by type and number.
- On the Options FastTab, enter the location for which you want to suggest bin movements in the Location Code field.
- Select the Suggest Bins (for put-aways) or Suggest Picks (for picks) field if you want the system to suggest storage bins for movement.
- Select the Generate Journal Lines field if you want the program to automatically populate the bin reclassification journal with the suggested bins.
If you are suggesting pick movements for shipments, the Generate Journal Lines field is an option field from which you can select the method by which journal lines are created.
- Choose the Print button or the Preview button to run the report.
When the report is finished, the items that have been selected for movement are listed in the bin reclassification journal.
