How to: Enter Item Densities

An item's density is determined from the item's unit of measure quantities, provided there is a unit of weight and a unit of volume associated with the item.

To enter item densities

1. In the Search box, enter Items, and then choose the related link.
2. Open the relevant item card for an item that will have a density.
3. On the Navigate tab, in the Master Data group, choose Units of Measure.
4. In the Item Units of Measure window, assign at least one unit of weight and one unit of volume to the item, and define the relationship between them in the Base Quantity field on the line containing the non-base unit of measure.
5. On the Specifications FastTab of the item card enter the appropriate units of measure in the Weight UOM and Volume UOM fields.
