How to: Fill In and Post Contract Journals

You can post the labor an outside contractor performed for a work order in a contract journal. Entries posted in a contract journal have no effect on the general ledger.

To fill in and post a contract journal

  1. In the Search box, enter Contract Journal, and then choose the related link.
  2. In the Work Order No. field, on the first line, enter the work order for which you are entering contract labor.
  3. Fill in the journal lines with the relevant information.
  4. Repeat this procedure for each contract journal line you want to post.
  5. After filling in the fields, post the journal. On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Post.
