How to: Set Up BOM Lot Preferences

BOM lot preferences can be defined for production components. When an item lot is entered on a consumption journal line for a production order, the program will alert you if the entered lot does not meet the defined lot preferences.

The following steps describe how to set up BOM lot preferences for a package BOM. The same procedure can be followed for formulas, item processes, and co-product/by-product processes, but for simplicity only a package BOM is described in detail.

To set up BOM lot preferences

  1. In the Search box, enter Package BOMs, and then choose the related link.
  2. Select the package BOM that you want to assign one or more lot preferences to.
  3. On the Versions FastTab, select the package BOM version that will have lot preferences, choose Actions, and then choose Edit Version. The Package BOM Version window appears.

The Lines FastTab displays the package BOM's components. Lot preferences are defined for specific components.
