ESHAPort Files
Genesis utilizes a program called ESHAPort to import data into the database. An ESHAPort file (.epf) exports data from one system into a text file, then imports the data from this text file into Genesis.
The ESHAPort files that are necessary to transfer data from Dynamics NAV to Genesis have been developed and are available as part of Food Manufacturing & Distribution. Because there need to be separate processes defined for different types of records (such as ingredients and recipes), as well as different types of action (such as creating new records or updating existing ones), there are a number of different ESHAPort files that are run with every data transfer. These files do not need to be run manually, as Dynamics NAV has been configured to automatically run the appropriate ESHAPort files when instructed to export data by the user.
For the most part, the ESHAPort file settings have been properly configured and should not be modified. However, because every company's network environment is different, you will have to point both the ESHAPort files and Dynamics NAV to the directory in which the text files containing the exported data are stored.
