Process Data Collection
For many companies, it is necessary to gather and record information about various activities. The purpose of data collection can differ depending on the company, the type of activity, and the specific information that is being recorded. It may be that data collection ensures that certain activities are performed according to defined standards. Recorded information also allows an organization to make more informed decisions about business processes.
The various types of data that can be collected are set up as data collection elements. Data collection elements are associated to different records, such as customers and items. When a record is involved in a process, values can be entered for that record's assigned data elements. The data elements that have been assigned to a record can be configured to alert one or more users if recorded values do not meet predetermined targets.
The following table describes a sequence of tasks, with links to the topics that describe them. These tasks are listed in the order in which they are generally performed.
