How to manage a pick using production containers
When a production pick is created, the system first looks for any production containers valid for the current production order.
If such a container is found, the relevant line information (such as lot information) is transferred to the pick document. For the items found, the Container ID field on the take and place lines is filled. If the quantity on the container line is less than the quantity on the pick line, the take and place lines are split into a pair for the quantity on the container and a pair for the remaining quantity.
The pick creation using production containers also checks lot preferences. If a lot preference check fails for a production container line, the system shows an error.
For simplicity, Food Manufacturing & Distribution does not support lot preference checks on container lines for several component lines with different lot preferences for the same item. This is not considered a common valid scenario.
