How to assign containers to a warehouse shipment

When using warehouse shipment documents, you can link an entire warehouse container and its contents. The system checks whether the container contains the correct item and whether the quantity on the order is equal to or greater than the quantity on the container. The quantity on the container is added to the Qty. to Ship field on the warehouse shipment line. This way, you can link several containers with the same item to the shipment.

Notes Once a container is linked to an outbound source document, it becomes a shipping container and can contain several items. From that point, you can add other loose items to the initial container.

Adding a container to a warehouse shipment

Steps

  1. In the search box, enter Warehouse Shipments, and then choose the related link.
  2. From the list, select the correct line.
  3. On the Home tab, in the Manage group, choose Edit.
  4. On the Home tab, in the Process group, choose Containers.
  5. On the Container Assignment page that opens, fill in the Document Type, the Document No., and the Container Type Code.
  6. Use the lookup in the License Plate field and select the correct container from the list.
