Assigning item variant variables

If an item variant is linked to a production BOM that contains package variables, you can assign inventory items to each package variable code. When a production order is created for the relevant item variant, the program substitutes package variables from the BOM with the inventory items assigned as item variant variables.

Steps

1. In the search box, enter Items, and then choose the related link.
2. Open the relevant item card. On the Navigate tab, in the Master Data group, choose Variants.
3. On the Item Variants page, select the variant to which you want to assign item variant variables.
4. On the Navigate tab, in the Variant group, choose Item Variant Variable.
5. On the Item Variant Variable page, fill in the fields.
