Assigning Item Variant Variables

If an item variant is linked to a production BOM that contains package variables, you can assign inventory items to each package variable code. When a production order is created for the relevant item variant, the program substitutes package variables from the BOM with the inventory items that have been assigned as item variant variables.

• In the Search box, enter Items, and then choose the related link.
• Open the relevant item card. On the Navigate tab, in the Master Data group, choose Variants.
• In the Item Variants window, select the variant to which you want to assign item variant variables.
• On the Navigate tab, in the Variant group, choose Item Variant Variable.
• In the Item Variant Variable window, fill in the fields.
