How to plan supply driven production

You can plan process production orders based on the current on-hand supply of raw materials. At the same time, you can plan one or more related package orders that contain packaging instructions for the output of a process order.

Steps

  1. In the search box, enter Supply Driven Planning, and then choose the related link.

  2. Enter a value in the Location Code field.

The lines in the Supply Driven Planning page display raw materials available in the specified location. Only raw materials assigned as components in a co-product process are displayed.

  3. Enter values in the supply and demand days view fields, if desired.

The program displays supply and demand for items based on the days view. A supply days view affects the display of available raw materials, while a demand days view adjusts the calculated demand for finished good items. For example, entering a supply days view of 4 causes the Supply Driven Planning page to display any changes to the available supply of listed raw materials scheduled to occur in the next four days.

  4. If you want to use a predefined production forecast, enter it in the Demand Forecast Name field.

  5. In the list of available raw materials in the upper left table, select the raw material you want to process.

The production processes defined for the selected raw material are displayed on the Processing Options FastTab to the right.

  6. Select the production process you want to plan.

  7. Fill in the Quantity to Process field based on your specifications. You cannot enter a quantity greater than the value in the Maximum Quantity field.

The items defined as the outputs for the selected process are displayed on the Output Options FastTab in the lower left.

  8. Select the process output you want to package.

The packaged finished goods defined for the selected intermediate are displayed on the Packaging Options FastTab to the right.

  9. Select the finished good you want to produce.

  10. Fill in the Quantity to Package field based on your specifications. You cannot enter a quantity greater than the value in the Maximum Quantity field.
