Understand Shorts management
There is always a possibility that items that are on inventory according to the system are actually no longer available. Usually these issues are resolved when taking physical inventory, but this is mainly done once or twice a year. It could therefore be possible that not enough inventory is available to satisfy the pick.
In order to facilitate easy handling and correction of these shorts, a Resolve shorts function is available. The functionality is typically available from the warehouse shipment document and changes the quantity on the source line will keeping all other warehouse documents intact. There are 2 types of Short Actions available from the Warehouse Shipment line:
- Change Quantity - Calculates Original Quantity - Shortage = New Quantity
- Substitute Item - Select a substituting item, when available
